An immersive opportunity for individuals passionate about trauma-informed care, resilience-building, and community healing. As an intern you will engage in core principles of the REPAIR program, while gaining hands on experience, and developing essential skills in coaching, advocacy, and trauma-informed practices.
As an intern, there are several skills that can be worked on while time is spent as part of the NI2C team. You will have an opportunity to learn and gain experience as a part of one of many intern project teams that are described below such as the podcast team, grant writing team and many more. Along with that you will be part of the REPAIR Program which meets once a week as a larger group to introduce weekly psychoeducation topics focused on learning skills and practices to support recovery from the impact of trauma. All together you will gain experience as a REPAIR Program member and get to see what happens behind that keeps organizations such as NI2C operating.

Email jen@ni2c.org to apply.
To apply, fill out both of the linked applications, and an enrollment specialist will contact you to set up an interview.
The enrollment process has three steps:
The application is now open for the Fall 2025 cohort. Please fill out the application above before July 15, 2025.
Once your application is received, we will reach out to you by email to schedule your 30 minute orientation zoom call in order to test any technology settings needed for participation, to have your questions about the program answered, and to see if the program is a good fit for you.
A confirmation of enrollment will be emailed after your completed orientation zoom call.
Waitlist options may be offered if the program is at capacity.
The REPAIR program is free of cost for interns. Purchasing the physical REPAIR workbook is an optional cost as a PDF version will be emailed to you.
Please reach us at jen@ni2c.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.
You would begin with submitting the REPAIR application for Interns. Shortly thereafter you would turn in a team preference form for the team that you would like to be a part of. Once that is done you will be invited to schedule an interview. If and once accepted, you will have a second interview for the team you applied to be a part of. Lastly once that is all done, you're officially in, and the next step is attending an orientation at the start of the semester.
There is not any formal training that has to be done other than the orientation. With that you will briefly meet others in your cohort and meet some of the staff you will be working with.
The entirety of the internship is online along with the work you will be doing.
This internship is unpaid, but offers hours for academic credits.
The program is open to individuals who have been impacted by adverse childhood experiences, are in recovery, justice-involved individuals, and those seeking personal and professional growth in relevant fields of nonprofits, trauma, and mental health. We welcome applicants who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives.
The REPAIR Internship is a structured program designed to help individuals transition into the mental health field and nonprofit workforce while building life skills and professional experience. It provides hands-on learning, mentorship, and personal development opportunities.
The internship can runs for 3-9 months, depending on the participant's goals. The most typical internship experience includes 120 hours over a 16 week semester, earning 3 academic semester credits.
Interns gain experience in stress management, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and job readiness to help them succeed in nonprofit or mental health fields. Other skills such as grant writing or client intake vary depending on the team project assignment.
The program is free for interns.
Interns should be committed to personal growth, open to learning, and able to follow program guidelines. A comfort with active group participation and sharing is also helpful, as REPAIR and project teams are very experiential and interactive. To receive academic credit for internship participation, students should be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in a major leading to a career in the mental health field such as human services, psychology, or public health.
