Emily (she/hers) is an undergrad human services student from CSUF who is passionate about helping underserved communities and providing individuals with the resources and assistance to succeed. Throughout the course of her education and past volunteer work, she has developed a strong passion for non-profits and grant development. By working with NI2C, Emily can refine her knowledge on these topics and develop a more comprehensive skillset on how to approach communities best. Additionally, Emily’s passion for helping others also stemmed from the childhood adversities she experienced in her household. By understanding the complex challenges individuals may have faced during childhood, Emily aims to understand how to assist others with navigating and managing their own adversities and help them create a more positive life for themselves.

"In May 2023 I obtained my undergrad in educational human services through Murray State University hoping to work in counseling. My plans changed quickly once I interned at a place that focused on holistic healing with survivors of abuse during my final internship for my undergrad. That experience helped inspire to further my education studying for my MSW at Western Kentucky University. Once I obtain my MSW degree I want to begin working towards earning my LCSW by working in clinical therapy focusing on mental health and advocacy for survivors of abuse. I am passionate in helping others gain confidence with themselves and I want to help people when they are struggling with their mental health. Even though I am brand new to this field of social work I feel like I have resonated with it my whole life because I have always had a strong desire to help others. I am excited to work towards my degree so I can be one step closer to helping others around me."
